Green Entrepreneurship and Tourism Investment
Green Entrepreneurship: Factor For Sustainable Tourism Development And Job Creation In Algeria
Like other countries around the world, experts,
scientists and citizens alike believe that the problem of preserving the environment
and ecology largely depends on the survival of mankind. Currently, most
businesses of any size that operate in the traditional environmental realm are
focusing their attention in particular on "the how and why of becoming
greener." Much research and study has gone into finding appropriate ways
to encourage companies to be more sustainable and responsible towards the
environment and to put a green strategy into their overall strategy.
Over the last decade, more advanced studies have
highlighted the active role of very small and medium-sized enterprises - TPME
for the transformation towards a "green economy", their importance of
introducing sustainable development into the strategic development of the
company. business and the growing importance of consumer demand and green
practices in certain industries. All of this suggests that the so-called green
perspective often offers the opportunity for the creation and growth of viable
businesses. It is surprising that the role of an essential factor in these
processes has been neglected until very recently that of the entrepreneur.
The classic entrepreneur works to contribute to change
and to introduce new opportunities for himself, but also for the community to
which he belongs. Therefore, green entrepreneurs have a very important role for
sustainable development, economic growth and revitalization of local
communities in underdeveloped regions. Green entrepreneurship is thus seen as
an engine of economic development because it generates the creation of businesses,
new jobs, encourages green innovative thinking. Our intervention presents how
an innovative approach in a “non-traditional” green sector, such as tourism,
leads to the transformation of this sector and encourages entrepreneurs and in
particular young people to invest in green business which will generate green
and sustainable jobs.
What is green tourism?
By definition,
tourism is an industry that aims not only to bring well-being and recreation to
citizens, but its mission also encompasses the preservation of natural wealth.
The development of “green tourism” in the world has
been encouraged in recent years by the change in tourism demand - Currently,
tourists are looking for so-called “green” products, sustainable and above all
without harmful influence on nature and meet the need for preserve
biodiversity. Tourism is an important activity for the economy of a country and
growing rapidly in recent years, with a social, cultural and environmental
impact and which fully contributes to development and economic and social
integration. Its role is important for development, especially for so-called
“rural and mountainous” areas, coastal regions, islands, peripheral and
outermost regions. The role of tourism for economic growth in Algeria is of
very great importance in the future, more than half of the country has a great
potential of resources for the development of tourism, of which the most
untapped potential is aimed at green tourism .
The development of green tourism in all its forms of
sustainable tourism is essential to achieve the objectives of the national
strategy for the sustainable development of tourism in Algeria by 2030. Green
tourism contributes to the exploitation of underutilized resources in de new
regions of the country and at the same time to develop the responsibility of
local communities for the conservation of natural and cultural heritage while
exercising local control over the development of tourism in local communities
in order to create new investment opportunities to generate additional
resources and the well-being of the local population, moreover, green tourism
has the potential to create new green jobs.
Many international initiatives to promote
environmental sustainability and green jobs are currently being developed. The
implementation of new coherent policies for the creation of quality jobs in a
greener economy are being put in place. Sustainable tourism is not a
"product", it is an approach to all forms of tourism, from five stars
to islands, tour operators and others. Many international tourists are willing
to pay more to favor businesses that work for the benefit of community
conservation and local biodiversity.
In addition, green tourism has the potential to create
new green jobs. Travel and tourism require significant human resources and
directly and indirectly employ 8% of the global workforce. It is estimated that
one basic tourism job creates about 1.5 additional (or indirect) jobs in the
tourism-related economy. The “greening” of tourism, which aims to improve the efficiency
of energy systems, water resources and waste management, should strengthen the
employment potential of this sector with an increase in local hiring and
sourcing and significant opportunities in tourism oriented towards local
culture and natural environment. On the other hand, the need to create green
forms of tourism is determined by the change in tourism demand and the strong
orientation towards green ecotourism.
The tourist who wants to practice "green
tourism" has a more developed awareness of the sustainable and respectful
use of the environment in which there is a harmony between the natural
landscape and urbanization, which we have the possibility of. to take full
advantage of. This tourist profile wishes to establish new contacts with the local
population. They want to be well received and accepted, want to integrate into
new environments, get to know the culture of these regions, etc…. To offer the
tourism services that are sought after and to respond to the need to preserve
biodiversity, by exerting low harmful effects on the environment, the private
sector and in particular very small medium-sized enterprises, must be mobilized
to support green tourism in Algeria.
The support systems for business creation put in place
by the public authorities, ANADE, CNAC, ANGEM, Startups, are an opportunity to
be seized for our young people who would like to create their own green
business in this very promising sector of activity. .
Green Entrepreneurship In Favor Of Environmental Sustainability, The Green Economy And Green Growth
The tourism sector involves a wide range of actors.
The awareness of green tourism exists mainly in a selection of large companies.
Small businesses are mostly outside this realm, and the diverse supplier groups
cannot be linked at all. The majority of tourism businesses are SMEs with the
potential to generate higher income and the ability to create strategies.
The most limiting factor to their “greening”, however,
is the lack of access to capital. Government public spending on protected
areas, cultural assets, water conservation, waste management, sanitation,
public transport and infrastructure for renewable energy can reduce the cost of
green investments in the environment. private sector through green tourism. The
government can also use tax breaks and subsidies to encourage private
investment in green tourism. Grants may be paid for projects that contribute to
waste reduction, promote energy efficiency and improve the efficiency of water
use, conservation of biodiversity and strengthening of links with local
businesses and community organizations.
The encouragement of "green jobs" in Algeria
must be done by subsidizing the employment of young unemployed people in green
jobs, the recovery will be differentiated in order to promote "green
jobs" of quality. Effective support will be provided through the
implementation of measures aimed at contributing to certain charges on
employers and supporting vulnerable groups in the labor market, in particular
for social assistance for the unemployed. Creating incentives for employers in
the green economy will encourage the creation of new jobs
There is no single definition of "green
jobs". Green jobs include all jobs that depend on or are created in the
environment.
Employees in sectors such as tourism will also need to
understand the principles of environmental protection and energy conservation,
from a macroeconomic point of view the term “green jobs” is less important, but
how to characterize them. as "green" can help to better understand
the main characteristic of the transformation process and the challenges that
arise from it.
The so-called traditional “green” industries include,
for example: recycling, waste management, water treatment management,
management of natural parks, on the other hand “newer” green industries include
transport, construction, adapted to changes in new environmental legislation in
terms of fuel used, emissions and building regulations.
